New Legal Requirement for Dog Owners

Important Notice: Starting July 1, 2026, a new legal requirement for all dog owners will take effect in the Czech Republic.

Every dog in the Czech Republic must be registered in the Central Dog Registry (CEP) no later than at the time of its next rabies vaccination or booster shot, or when a puppy is microchipped, or before it is handed over to a new owner.

Simply microchipping a dog or registering it in other databases does not fulfill this legal requirement. Registration in the Central Dog Registry must be performed exclusively by a veterinarian.
